The Gingerbread House
An evolving exhibition series by Triqis
The Gingerbread House is the first edition of a new exhibition series by Triqis. Named after Trinidad’s “gingerbread” houses, the showcase explores themes of cultural renewal and creative identity through contemporary design.
Inside The Gingerbread House, this edition unveils new furniture and lighting by designers Kwaku Boateng and Erwan Le Bozec, alongside collaborations and work by an emerging contemporary artist. Each future edition will introduce a new artist and a musical collaborator, enriching the rhythmic atmosphere that supports the studio’s creative world.
Expect a blend of Caribbean warmth, modernist restraint and Nordic clarity, the foundation of the Triqis aesthetic, expressed through modern design, cultural references and a subtle sonic layer.
Sound by:
Louis Vellacott
Based in London, he is the founder of Tone Central, a contemporary reimagining of the listening speakeasy, rooted in presence, restraint, and atmosphere. His sets move intuitively through global sound traditions, modern R&B, and contemporary dance music, guided by emotional continuity rather than genre.
Equally fluent in vinyl and digital formats, Louis is drawn to spaces where sound is given room to breathe—from intimate listening rooms to historic European settings. His practice is informed by traditions of soul and quiet storm, alongside modern movements that centre community, cultural exchange, and sonic world-building.
For the Triqis Gingerbread House, Louis appears as a featured creative, composing the sonic identity of the space and shaping how the room is felt as much as it is heard.
Ceramicist
Hannah Slaouti | Founder, slaouts ceramics
Hannah Slaouti is the ceramicist behind slaouts ceramics, an Interior-led, small-batch ceramics brand creating works in limited series, rooted in self-expression and cultural narrative. With a background spanning interiors and lifestyle brands, her work is at the intersection of function, form, and atmosphere.
Drawing inspiration from nature, architecture, and her North African heritage, Hannah creates handmade ceramic pieces defined by nuanced, distinctive glaze palettes and raw, exposed clay bodies. Tone plays a central role in her process, resulting in expressive, considered colour stories that give each piece its own character.
Through slaouts, Hannah explores how the beauty of nature can be carried through ceramics, particularly through glaze chemistry. Pattern emerges across each surface, echoing the quiet complexity of natural landscapes. While guided by intention, she allows the unpredictability of ceramics to reflect the landscapes and cultural references that inform her work.
Through this approach, her work invites a slower rhythm of living, encouraging a deeper appreciation for craftsmanship, detail, and the emotional connection we form with the objects that inhabit our spaces.
Live Performance:
Joseph Westscott “Yorke”
Joseph Yorke-Westcott (Yorke) is a London-based musical artist working across sound, visual identity, performance, and spatial expression. Shaped by rhythmic systems, repetition, and call-and-response, his music draws from long histories of cultural exchange.
Rooted in his Trinidadian background, Yorke explores themes of connection, movement, and diaspora, treating sound as a shared language. For The Gingerbread House, he contributes a layered, atmospheric musical presence that shapes the rhythm of the space.
Ian Malhotra works at the intersection of digital imagery and analogue making, exploring how images are translated, repeated, and transformed across systems. Drawing from landscapes in constant flux such as night skies, oceans, and imagined terrains, his work engages with subjects that resist binary logic while remaining deeply rooted in the history of picture-making.
Through labour-intensive copper-plate etching, Malhotra applies traditional processes to images that originate in virtual space, often reversing tonal conventions to echo the glow of the screen. Hand-drawn lines, subtle gestures, and layered surfaces reintroduce time, imperfection, and human presence into works that initially appear mechanically produced, offering a quiet resistance to the speed and certainty of the digital image.
