Mellow Tones is a monthly vinyl listening session and audio workbook experience for people who love great records, thoughtful listening and good company.
Presented by Tone Central, each session features three to four carefully selected albums, played in full on vinyl. The music begins mellow and gradually builds in energy throughout the evening, creating space to slow down, tune in and discover something new.
Before each album, our guest selector introduces the record, sharing what makes it resonate with them. Between sides, as the record is flipped, they’ll share stories, context and history behind the artist and the music.
Set in the relaxed, welcoming surroundings of the Triqis studio-showroom, Mellow Tones is an invitation to listen a little closer, connect through music and enjoy the conversations that follow.
This month: Quiet Bass — How Bass Music Slowed Down and Found Its Voice
From London’s sound systems to Byron Bay, we explore the softer, more introspective side of bass music through four defining perspectives: Burial’s Untrue, James Blake, Sampha’s Process and Tora’s Take a Rest.
Played on vinyl, with the stories and ideas behind the music, this is an evening of deep listening, atmospheric sounds and bass that speaks in a quieter voice.
